A natural Blend of Sport and Splendour
It all started in 2008 when we planned the Crater Cruise Mountainbike Marathon to make it’s way through our family farm. A 1 km trail section became a 3 km trail, became a 7 km trail. We hosted more trail runs and even a small high school mountainbike training camp for Transvalia High School.
- In 2017 we set out to build a range of facilities: the Koedoesaal (event hall), the Koedoekraal (lapa), the Koedoelaer (indoor tented camp), the Koedoe Cabins (6 x 4-bed cabins with en-suite bathrooms)
- In February 2018 Koedoeslaagte hosted 2 family get-togethers and in March it’s first official High School Mountainbike training camp for Randburg High School
- At our 2018 annual Southern Skies 24-hours Mountainbike Relay & Solo, the event facilities were officially introduced to the public!

There has been no commercial farming here since 1971 and we have a bushveld wilderness ready to be explored. The Vaal River is the source of live on the farm and Koedoeslaagte boasts a 1 km riverfront with a network of rapids, pools and islands. The farm also features its own mountain and interestingly it was here on this mountain where geologists in the 70’s studied the possibility of a meteorite being responsible for the mountainous landscape in the midst of the pan-flat Northern Free State and Northwest. Koedoeslaagte is now proudly part of the UNESCO Vredefort Dome World Heritage Site.
The newly found Koedoeslaagte Trail Park & Venue aims to offer visitors a unique opportunity to enjoy this famous crater and wilderness.
